Maldives and UNDP discuss increasing investment opportunities

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has discussed increasing investment opportunities in the Maldives. The discussion was held during a meeting between Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed and Enrico Gaveglia, the Resident Representative of UNDP in the Maldives.

The meeting encompassed discussions on existing collaboration areas and explored potential future collaborations. During the meeting, Representative Gaveglia relayed to Minister Saeed UNDP’s long-standing support to ensure sustainable economic growth for the Maldives, while placing the welfare of the people and protection of natural assets at the forefront of shared goals.

Additionally, Minister Saeed gave key guidance which placed the UNDP's work with the economic ministry at the core of its support to the Maldives. They also discussed increasing opportunities for investment and offering strategic options to reduce public budget burden with an economy that can thrive at new pace, which remains key to a progressive and shared development agenda.
