Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef has vowed to share the concerns of local councils with the Cabinet and find solutions. He made the remark at a strategic deliberation meeting between the Thulusdhoo Island Council and the Local Government Authority (LGA).
During the meeting, Minister Shareef said that the government aims to properly manage public services and make them easily accessible to citizens. As such, he said that more effort should be made to empower local councils. He vowed to share the concerns of councils with the Cabinet and find solutions.
Additionally, Minister Shareef said the government aims to empower the people more than ever before and to shape policies to make the management of services provided by councils more appealing to the people. He said the government will give special priority to strengthen the management of the councils and improve the public service sector.
Furthermore, Minister Shareef urged the councils to set an example for other councils. He noted that their work can be improved by sharing what they learn.
