Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef has announced his commitment to engage in social initiatives and oversee the implementation of President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's manifesto.
In an exclusive interview with PSM News, Vice President-elect Latheef commenced his Victory Day speech by acknowledging the sacrifices of Maldivians who lost their lives during the coup attack on November 3, 1988, leading to the country's victory. He expressed the need for providing the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) with modern education, training, and facilities to ensure preparedness for potential challenges.
Additionally, Latheef also discussed the role and responsibilities of the Vice President, highlighting the ever standing focus on social sector involvement. He expressed his intention to consult with President-elect Dr. Muizzu regarding his potential involvement in the social sector within the new administration. He also revealed that the President-elect had entrusted him with the task of conducting national and social work, along with overseeing the implementation of the manifesto.
Furthermore, Latheef mentioned his alternative career path, expressing his willingness to work in sports and youth-related areas within the People's National Congress (PNC) if he had not been elected. The interview also delved into various aspects of his life, detailing his entry into the political arena and the journey to becoming the running mate.
