The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has published a list of individuals presently registered as members of political parties.
Vice President of ECM Ismail Habeeb has said that the list aims to verify the validity of the members’ registry of the parties, due to the increasing number of complaints of individuals being registered as members of political parties or transferred across parties without their knowledge. ECM had previously published a similar list of political party members.
There are currently 10 registered political parties, with 56% of the voting population affiliated with political parties, while 44% remain unaffiliated, according to ECM. The list of members of registered political parties is accessible from the ECM website.
ECM stated that complaints can be submitted using the political party register complaint form. The deadline for submitting complaints is before 1500hrs on November 30.
