Male' City Council could have done more with gov't support: President-elect

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that Male' City Council would have been able to resolve many of the issues in the city if the government had given its full cooperation. He made the remark during a meeting with the employees of the Male' City Council in his capacity as Mayor.

During the meeting, President-elect Muizzu said the Male' City Council has politically different opinions from the government which has resulted in the current administration refusing to give its full cooperation to the council. He assured that his administration will pay special attention to the councils and always remember that they play the most important role in serving the people. He promised to find solutions to the problems facing Male' and not exclude any council over political differences.

President-elect Muizzu was elected as Mayor of Male' City in 2021 and is notable for solving many of the issues affecting residents of the city during his tenure. He said that the Male' City Council was able to carry out its responsibilities due to the hard work of the employees. As such, he thanked them for their cooperation and encouraged them to continue their service.

During the meeting, the Male' City Council presented a special plaque to President-elect Muizzu in recognition of his services as Mayor. A second copy of the light magazine Athamana, based on the details of the important works carried out by the city council during Muizzu's tenure, was also launched.
