Muizzu pledges lagoon reclamation for housing

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, the presidential candidate of the People's National Congress (PNC), has said that he will reclaim all available lagoons in the Greater Male' Region with the aim of providing housing for the public.

At a campaign event held in Male' City, Dr. Muizzu highlighted the significance of housing within the context of social well-being and prosperity. He asserted that the nation's path to peace and prosperity hinges on ensuring equitable access to housing. He underscored his intention to align housing initiatives with broader economic improvements, acknowledging the current fragility of the economy and the necessity for comprehensive efforts to address it. As such, he vowed to deliver a lasting solution under his administration, accompanied by a pledge to reclaim all the lagoons in the Greater Male' Region and introduce specialised housing loans.

Additionally, Muizzu expressed his intent to amend the laws to spare residents living in homes under 600sqft from being compelled to vacate their properties.
