The Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has officially opened the second floor of the SME Hub with a gaming area.
BCC announced that the second floor of the SME Hub will host various facilities, including a salon, arts and crafts kiosks, and clothing shops. It also features a gallery, a gaming area, and a dedicated play area for children to promote the work of local artists. BCC also revealed plans to open a mini cinema for Maldivian producers in the near future.
During the opening ceremony of the second floor of SME Hub, Minister of State at the Ministry of Economic Development Neeza Imad underscored the government's recognition of the significance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the economy. She noted that SMEs account for 75% of the economy and expressed the government's commitment to supporting and promoting these businesses. She also expressed the intention to establish SME Hubs across the country as part of the initiative.
The SME Hub in Male' City was initially inaugurated to address the challenges faced by small businesses by providing them with opportunities to market and sell their products. The hub also aims to empower home-based businesses by offering them a platform for conducting business activities and supporting entrepreneurship. The hub has provided opportunities for more than 90 small businesses to date.
