Mohamed Nazim, the presidential candidate of the Maldives National Party (MNP), has put forth a compelling promise to implement of a dedicated insurance card that would extend health services to the underprivileged both within the Maldives and abroad. He made the remark while speaking at a campaign event held at Nilandhoo, Faafu Atoll.
During the event, Nazim highlighted a significant issue where underprivileged citizens face financial hardships due to the inability to cover all medical expenses under the Aasnadha health insurance. He pointed out that this situation often compels individuals to resort to seeking medical aid through charitable means. He, however, e provided reassurance that his administration would alleviate these challenges by issuing a specialised insurance card, ensuring easy access to medical treatment for the less privileged both domestically and internationally.
Furthermore, Nazim expressed his commitment to empower women through various initiatives. He stressed the importance of extending increased opportunities to women, particularly those aspiring to launch small and medium enterprises (SMEs), thus ensuring equal footing with their male counterparts. He also made a pledge to amend existing legislation in order to allocate 30% of parliamentary seats to women, thereby advancing gender representation in the political sphere.
