President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated that the pledges made by his rival candidates have already been fulfilled by the current administration. He made the remark at a campaign event in Manadhoo, Noonu Atoll.
At the campaign event, President Solih, the candidate of the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), criticised the policies of the other candidates, saying that his administration does not only focus on development projects in cities or high-population areas. He highlighted that he has been consistently fulfilling the pledges he made during the previous election, which are similar to the pledges now being made by his rival candidates.
Additionally, President Solih said that the policy of MDP is to conduct projects that benefit all Maldivians, wherever they reside. He warned that commencing development initiatives in specific regions leads to tyranny and that the Maldives should not revert to such a state.
Furthermore, President Solih revealed his plans for Manadhoo for his next term, which include projects to develop roads, a sewerage network, and an ice plant for fishermen. He also pledged to build a local market and a picnic island for residents and solve the problem of erosion and develop the harbour.
