JP, MRM, The Democrats appoint election agents

Jumhooree Party (JP), the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM), and The Democrats have appointed election agents for their presidential candidates.

As such, JP appointed former Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed as the election agent for the party's candidate, Qasim Ibrahim. Ali Waheed is the former President of JP but lost the position after changes were made to the party regulations. However, he was given the post of special advisor to Qasim, who is yet to appoint a running or campaign manager.

Additionally, President of MRM Faris Maumoon has announced that he has appointed former Deputy Minister of Higher Education Ismail Zabeeh as his election agent. Faris was the only candidate to contest in the primary election of MRM, which is currently in a legal battle after the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) decided to dissolve the party after failing to fulfill the membership requirement of 3,000 members.

Furthermore, the candidate of The Democrats Ilyas Labeeb has appointed Fathimath Niuma as his election agent. Niuma resigned as Deputy Minister of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure to join The Democrats, which was formed by defecting members of the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).
