President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have attended the float procession held to mark the 58th Independence Day of the Maldives.
President Solih and First Lady Fazna observed the festivities near the Izzuddin Jetty in Male' City. This year’s procession, featuring 15 floats from eight government offices, institutions, and state-owned enterprises (SOEs), was organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The float procession was attended by cabinet ministers, government officials, and members of the public.
A large number of residents in Male' City came out to observe the float procession, which consisted of a variety of eye-catching floats that were especially appealing to children. The floats were lit up and decorated with various themes, with performers involved in various activities. Costumed characters also walked along the procession and took photos with children.
The home ministry stated that the floats, which were well received, will be placed in Hulhumale' Central Park. Colorful activities are being held to celebrate Independence Day and the government has decided to continue the Independence Day celebrations until August 4.
