President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has traveled to Shaviyani Atoll as part of his campaign for the upcoming presidential election.
President Solih launched his campaign with a visit to Komandoo with senior members of main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and leaders of coalition partners Adhaalath Party (AP) and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA). President Solih was warmly welcomed upon his arrival to Komandoo, where he met with supporters and spoke about his vision and his administration’s policies.
Additionally, President Solih is scheduled to travel to Foakaidhoo where he will hold the official campaign launching ceremony. He plans to hold campaign activities in all inhabited islands before the presidential election.
MDP awarded its ticket to President Solih to contest the election on behalf of the main ruling party after he won the primary election held in January. Since then, officials of MDP have been travelling to the atolls to prepare for the campaign by putting up posters and gathering information to draft the manifesto. As such, teams have been making door-to-door visits to households to collect information and identify what the government can do to improve the country and to identify the opinion of the public.
