The Maldives and Azerbaijan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on increasing cooperation between the ministries of foreign affairs of both countries.
The MoU was signed at a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The MoU was signed by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Ahmed Khaleel and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov.
Under the MoU, the Maldives and Azerbaijan will work towards strengthening existing bilateral relations, and to hold regular consultations on all issues of mutual interest. As such, the agreement aims to enhance and expand bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries and facilitate the holding of regular consultations between the two countries at all levels on issues of mutual interest. It also aims to strengthen cooperation between the two sides on the training of diplomats.
