State Trading Organisation (STO) has signed an agreement with Hulhumale’ Hospital to develop and expand the intensive care unit (ICU) and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) facilities. The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hulhumale’ Hospital Mariya Saeed and the Managing Director of STO Abdulla Saeed.
STO has been contracted to develop and expand the ICU and NICU facilities at Hulhumale’ Hospital to address the pressing need for additional space and modern medical resources. Hulhumale’ Hospital stated that the agreement marks a significant milestone for the hospital's progression to a tertiary-level institution, enhancing healthcare services for the community.
Hulhumale’ Hospital currently consists of a total of 17 beds in the ICU and NICU. However, the project aims to double the capacity by adding 10 more beds to the ICU and 14 more beds to the NICU and procuring the latest medical equipment and resources for the facilities.
Hulhumale’ Hospital began services 19 years ago and has rapidly emerged as a reliable medical facility with specialist services. However, its biggest obstacle to providing comprehensive health services and establishing new services has been the lack of space and facilities. As such, the government is working to provide quality health services to the residents of Hulhumale’ due to the increasing number of people seeking services from the hospital.
As part of the efforts, Hulhumale' Hospital is working towards enhancing the quality of its services and has introduced an online memo system for doctor appointments to facilitate convenient services for patients. In addition, the hospital's eye department, cancer department, and physiotherapy department have gained significant trust and appreciation from the public.
Furthermore, Hulhumale' Hospital has taken significant steps to address the growing needs of patients and has extended its dialysis services to operate 24 hours a day to cater to the rising number of individuals with kidney disease. A General Practice Clinic has also been established in Hulhumale' Phase II to provide comprehensive healthcare services to the community. The hospital is also engaged in the construction of an operation theatre and expansion of its dental services due to increasing demand.
