The government has appointed Aminath Shifana as the new Consul General of the Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram, India. The Letter of Appointment was handed over by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid at a special ceremony.
Prior to her appointment, Shifana worked as an Additional Secretary of the foreign ministry. She has also served as the Permanent Secretary and filled other roles at the foreign ministry. Shifana has diverse experience in administration and human resource management. She first joined the ministry in 1999.
At the meeting held after the ceremony, Minister Shahid congratulated the new Consul General Shifana on her appointment and wished her a successful tenure. Minister Shahid also thanked the outgoing Consul General Aminath Abdulla Didi for completing her term and returning to take the role of Additional Secretary of the foreign ministry. She was appointed as the first female Consul General of the Maldives in Thiruvananthapuram in December 2019.
