Male' Water and Sewerage Company Private Limited (MWSC) has assured that all water and sewerage projects it has been contracted will be completed within the current term. The remarks were made by Managing Director Hassan Shah while speaking at the ceremony to commemorate the 28th anniversary of MWSC held at Henveiru Stadium.
Speaking at the ceremony, Shah said MWSC has achieved many achievements under the visionary policies of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He also noted that historic progress has been made in the past four and a half years despite the challenges faced by the government due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, Shah said MWSC is making efforts to expand its operations and improve the quality of services. He said the company is undertaking major projects worth USD14.5 million to upgrade the water and sewerage system in the Greater Male' Region and increase capacity storage. He also said that the completion of these projects will provide a permanent solution to the water and sewerage problems in the region.
Furthermore, Shah also noted the latest statistics of the company's water and sewerage projects in the atolls. He assured that ongoing projects will be completed during this administration. In addition, he said the expansion of the company's services has resulted in increased job opportunities for the youth in different parts of the country. As such, he said MWSC currently has 1,247 employees and the role of women in senior management positions has also significantly increased compared to 2018.
In conclusion, Shah said the company's main objective is to serve the citizens of the country. He noted that a total of USD3 million has been spent on more than 535 activities across the country between 2019-2022 under its corporate social responsibility (CSR).
