Maldives and UAE sign MoU to enhance food security

The Maldives and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote and strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the field of fisheries, marine resources, and agriculture and its development and advancement in order to enhance food security.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture of the Maldives Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan, and the Minister of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE Mariam Al Mheiri. After signing the agreement, the two ministers discussed investment opportunities in both countries in the agriculture sector.

During her visit, Minister Mheiri also met the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology in the Maldives Aminath Shauna. They discussed the environment and climate change and the possibilities of cooperation in the field. These include the protection and management of areas with special environmental characteristics, coral revival, and strengthening cooperation between the relevant institutions of the two countries.
