The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has commenced the fieldwork for the harbour development project in Maduvvari, Meemu Atoll. MTCC stated that the entrance channel dredging operations are currently underway.
The scope of the project includes harbor dredging operations of 38,800cbm, channel dredging operations of 54,093cbm, as well as dredging and excavation of additional materials of 18,578.60cbm. Additionally, MTCC will also be doing reclamation operations of 111,471cbm, construction of a 600m breakwater, and a 122m revetment.
.The harbour development project is being implemented at a cost of USD1.3 million.
