Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has stated that it is seeking a third party to conduct a socio-economic survey on the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service.
The planning ministry stated that the survey will identify the benefits of the ferry service to health services, employment opportunities, education, tourism, and other economic sectors. The survey is to be conducted for more than 13 weeks, and the survey report must be submitted to the planning ministry in September.
The information meeting for interested individuals seeking to conduct the survey will be held at 1100hrs on May 17 at the planning ministry. The opportunity is open for interested parties to submit bids before 1100hs on May 22.
The RTL high-speed ferry service commenced on May 5, 2022. The ferry service has been established in Zone 1 of the National Public Ferry Network, which consists of 30 inhabited islands in Haa Alifu Atoll, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, and Shaviyani Atoll. In addition, the ferry service was also launched in Lhaviyani Atoll with plans to launch the service in the four southern atolls in 2023.
