First Lady attends children's festival in Gemanafushi

First Lady Fazna Ahmed has attended the children's festival to mark Children's Day in Gemanafushi, Gaafu Alifu Atoll. The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in the Maldives and the Maldives Police Service jointly organised the festivities in collaboration with the Gemanafushi Island Council, government offices and institutions, and civil society.

First Lady Fazna, the UNICEF Representative in the Maldives Dr Edward Addai, and the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed inaugurated the children's evening on Gemanafushi. It featured informative stalls by the police, the Children's Ombudsperson's Office, Gemanafushi School, government offices and institutions, and non-governmental organisations.

The festivities by the police and UNICEF Maldives to mark Children's Day also included a nationwide art competition and exhibition themed Child Rights, an awareness session for parents and students of the islands of Gaafu Alifu Atoll, and a cleaning event.

After the children's evening, First Lady Fazna also visited the art exhibition and viewed the artworks.
