Ministry of Education has inaugurated the multipurpose hall building developed in Sheikh Ibrahim School in Kelaa, Haa Alifu Atoll. The building was inaugurated by the Policy Director Naushad Ibrahim.
The school teaches up to Grade 10 and currently has a total of 249 students. The school faced space constraints and there was no space for extracurricular activities and meetings, As such, the previous administration began work to resolve the issue. The school's multipurpose hall was first awarded in 2018 to Uni Engineering Private Limited. However, the work was delayed and the education ministry awarded the project in October 2021 to Pensare Maldives Private Limited at a cost of USD369,600 to complete the building.
The Principal of Sheikh Ibrahim School Mohamed Fayaz said the multipurpose hall building will make it easier to hold additional activities at the school. He also said that the building also consists of two classrooms which can also be used as an area for students to study.
The government is making efforts to address the space constraints faced by schools across the country. As such, the government has decided to conduct 247 projects to increase the space for schools. The projects include developing 1,716 classrooms and 92 halls.
