PSM and ABU discuss holding broadcasting training in Maldives

Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) has held discussions to provide broadcasting sector training opportunities for Public Service Media (PSM).

The discussions took place during a meeting with PSM and other media regulators in the Maldives and the Vice President of ABU Yan Chengsheng. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 7th ABU Media Summit on Climate Action and Disaster Prevention held in Crossroads Maldives.

During the meeting, Managing Director of PSM Ali Khalid discussed the various training opportunities currently available to PSM, and Yan, who also holds a senior position in China's state media, also discussed the resumption of training programmes in China before the COVID-19 pandemic. The two discussed extensively the ways in which the broadcasting sector can be developed further.

Furthermore, Yan also expressed his willingness to assist in the development of the media and broadcasting sector in the Maldives. He also thanked PSM for hosting the summit in a short period of time.

The meeting was attended by the President of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) Mariyam Waheeda and the President of Maldives Media Council (MMC) Ahmed Musthafa.
