Vice President Faisal Naseem has encouraged Fathimath Shaya Zahir to further her education while continuing to recite the Holy Quran. He made these remarks while speaking during a meeting with Shaya to congratulate her on finishing second in the International Quran Memorisation Competition for non-Arabic speakers under 40 held in Egypt.
During the meeting, Vice President Naseem encouraged Shaya to further her education while continuing to recite Quran. Shaya's parents and the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali also attended the meeting.
The competition was held in February and the results of the competition were announced on April 18 at a ceremony held in Egypt. President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi presented the award to Shaya during the ceremony. It is one of the largest international competitions with 108 participants from 58 countries. Students from the Maldives have been achieving remarkable success in international Quran competitions recently.
