Maldives agrees to enhance close relations with China

The Maldives has agreed to work closely together with China to address shared interests in further enhancing the close relations between the two countries. The remarks were made by Foreign Secretary Ahmed Latheef during a courtesy call paid by the Vice Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) Deng Boqing.

During the meeting, Foreign Secretary Latheef and Vice Chairman Boqing discussed the importance of the Global Development Initiatives proposed by China, ways to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries, and the ongoing projects by China in the Maldives. He also thanked Vice Chairman Boqing and the government of China for the generous assistance it had provided to the Maldives.

Vice Chairman Deng Boqing is undertaking an official visit to the Maldives from March 31 to April 3.
