RDC to pave asphalt under Thinadhoo road development project

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has stated that the machinery and resources have been transferred to begin paving asphalt under the second phase of the road development project in Thinadhoo, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

RDC stated that workers are currently installing the cable ducts and pavements and that they will soon begin paving asphalt on 14 roads in Thinadhoo. The company further stated that discussions are being held to fast-track the project but that the increasing project scope is causing delays.

RDC was contracted to complete the second phase of the road development project in Thinadhoo in April 2021. The project involves paving asphalt in 6.5 kilometres of roads and the installation of street lights and a drainage system. The project was contracted for a price of USD5 million, to be completed in 15 months.

RDC paved asphalt on 9.2 kilometres of roads as part of the first phase of the project. Thinadhoo is the most populous island in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll with a population of over 7,400 residents.
