MPS holds Flag Hoisting Ceremony on 90th Anniversary

The Maldives Police Service (MPS) has held a flag hoisting ceremony on its 90th anniversary.

The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the flag in front of the main MPS Headquarters in Male' City. Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla, Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed, Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Mannan Yusuf, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Ali Rasheed were present during the ceremony, as well as officers, and civil servants of the police force.

The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the police resolution and the recitation of a special prayer to commemorate the occasion. Flag hoisting ceremonies were also held at the police stations in the islands in the presence of atoll police commanders, senior local officials, and employees at the police stations.

The police service was established in the Maldives in 1933 by Sultan Mohamed Shamsudhdheen III and MPS was formed under the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2004.
