JP opens for candidacies for primary election

Jumhooree Party (JP) has opened the opportunity for members to submit their candidacies for the primary election.

In a press release, JP stated that it will accept candidacies from members that have the qualifications for the presidency until the end of March 30. The JP council decided to field a candidate and lead its own coalition for the upcoming presidential election at a time when President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih invited the party to rejoin the ruling government coalition.

Individuals who have officially announced their bid to run in the election are President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, former President Abdulla Yameen, President of Maldives National Party (MNP) Mohamed Nazim and former Attorney General (AG) Dr. Mohamed Munavvaru.
