AP says President will be re-elected with over 51% votes

President of Adhaalath Party (AP) Imran Abdulla has stated that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will win re-election with over 51% of the votes in the first round of the presidential election. He made the remark on Twitter in response to the decision of the Jumhooree Party (JP) to field its own candidate.

Imran, who is also the Minister of Home Affairs, said the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), and AP can work together to get President Solih re-elected.

Additionally, Vice President of AP Ali Zahir has also expressed confidence that President Solih will win re-election. He said the coalition will easily win the upcoming presidential election under the leadership of President Solih.

JP, a ruling government coalition member, decided to field its own candidate and lead its own coalition in the upcoming presidential election at a time when President Solih has invited the party to rejoin the coalition.

Individuals who have officially announced their bid to run in the election are President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, the candidate of the main opposition coalition former President Abdulla Yameen, President of Maldives National Party (MNP) Mohamed Nazim, and former Attorney General Dr. Mohamed Munavvaru.
