The Maldives and Ghana have signed two key agreements aimed at enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
At a ceremony held on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Foreign Affairs Ministers Meeting in the United Kingdom (UK), the agreements were signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana Ayorkor Botchwey. The two agreements signed between the Maldives and Ghana were the Agreement on Mutual Exemption of Visa Requirements for their Respective Nationals and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Political Consultation.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the conclusion of the agreements is a step towards a closer bilateral exchange with Ghana through periodic consultations between the foreign ministries of both countries and increased people-to-people contact facilitated through the mutual exemption of visas.
