National Advisory Committee on Elections schedules first meeting

The National Advisory Committee on Elections is scheduled to hold its first meeting next week.

The purpose of the committee is to advice the Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) on matters related to the presidential election. The committee is formulated with representatives of the relevant agencies. This year, the committee consists of representatives of 10 independent institutions, eight political parties, three organisations, as well as representatives of independent candidates.

Vice President of the ECM Ismail Habeeb said parties, independent institutions and organisations have been invited to the inaugural meeting, adding that the electoral body wishes to have everyone's support to hold a fair presidential election.
