A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Moms Offering Moms Support (MOMS) Aid, has decided to offer assistance to more than 300 families in need during the holy month of Ramadan.
The NGO said more than 300 families from different parts of the country have registered on the care list or need assistance under the Ramadan Aid campaign. These include families with single parents, orphans, children with disabilities, and people undergoing treatment for serious illnesses, according to the NGO.
The campaign will provide care packages to families. The care packages are divided into four categories. These include USD19,4 for a three days fasting meal, USD32.4 for five days fasting meal, USD54.8 for food items for a family of three members, and USD97.2 for food items for a family of five members.
MOMS Aid said one of the main objectives of the NGO is to provide assistance to families in need. The NGO said there are many families that do not have proper meals as Ramadan approaches. MOMS aims to eradicate poverty in the Maldives and to speak out against various forms of violence against women. The NGO is currently conducting other activities to help families and is preparing to conduct more activities in the future.
