President concludes official visit to Qatar and Germany

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his official visit to Qatar and Germany. Several high-level bilateral meetings and engagements in the international arena highlighted his successful visit to the two countries.

In the first leg of his visit, President Solih attended the 5th United Nations (UN) Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in Doha, Qatar. He also met with Secretary-General of the UN Antonio Guterres and several world leaders on the sidelines of the conference.

During the second leg of his visit to Germany, President Solih visited the ITB Berlin 2023 with First Lady Fazna and toured the Maldivian stand. The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) presented President Solih with a miniature model of the stand during his visit. He also discussed collaborating on developing the tourism sector with Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Al-Khateeb on the sidelines of the travel trade show.

In addition, President Solih toured the Cecilienhof Palace in Brandenburg. He then met with President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and explored avenues for Germany’s support for negotiating tariff rates for Maldivian fish exports.
