Maldives discusses developing tourism with Saudi Arabia

The Maldives and Saudi Arabia have discussed collaborating on developing the tourism sectors of both countries. The discussions took place during a meeting between President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Minister of Tourism of Saudi Arabia Ahmed Al-Khateeb on the sidelines of ITB Berlin 2023 in Germany.

During the meeting, President Solih met with Minister Al Khateeb at Saudi Arabia’s stand at the travel trade show to discuss avenues of collaboration to develop the tourism sectors of both countries. After the meeting, the minister expressed appreciation for being able to hold the discussion with President Solih and said that the two countries will work together to commence projects to sustainably develop tourism.

More than 5,500 exhibitors from over 150 countries are participating at ITB Berlin 2023. The purpose of the fair is to provide an opportunity for tourism professionals from different countries to meet and market their businesses. The Maldives has the largest share of the fair among South Asian countries with a 450sqm two-storey stand designed to reflect the country’s natural beauty. It is the 39th year that the Maldives is participating in the fair.
