The main opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) has opened for interested members to submit candidacies for the by-election for Guraidhoo Constituency.
PPM opened the opportunity for candidates to contest the Guraidhoo constituency until 1430hrs on March 7. The primary will take place from 1430-1800hrs on March 10.
The Elections Commission of the Maldives (ECM) decided to hold the by-election for Guraidhoo Constituency on April 15 following the death of Parliamentarian Ibrahim Riza on February 23. The electoral body also opened the opportunity to submit candidacies for the by-election until 1400hrs on March 13.
In addition to PPM, the main ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Maldives National Party (MNP) have decided to contest the by-election.
