The Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Relations has begun reviewing the nominees for non-resident ambassadors.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s request to approve the nominations was heard at the Parliament and was sent to the committee for evaluation. President Solih nominated non-resident ambassadors to 14 countries.
As such, President Solih nominated High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Ali Faiz as Non-Resident Ambassador to Seychelles, Mauritius, Qatar, South Africa, and New Zealand. He also nominated Ambassador to the United States (US) Abdul Ghafoor Mohamed as Non-Resident Ambassador to Canada.
Additionally, Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Aminath Shabeena was nominated as Non-Resident Ambassador to Ethiopia and Kenya, Ambassador to Germany Aishath Shaan Shakir was nominated as Non-Resident Ambassador to Serbia, and Ambassador to Singapore Ahmed Thasmeen Ali was nominated as Non-Resident Ambassador to Indonesia, Australia, and the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Ambassador to Malaysia Ali Hussain Didi was nominated as Non-Resident Ambassador to Brunei, and Ambassador to India Ibrahim Shaheeb was nominated as Non-Resident Ambassador to Kazakhstan.
