Maldives dispatches humanitarian aid to Türkiye

The government of the Maldives has dispatched the first batch of the 500,000 cans of tuna to Türkiye as humanitarian aid.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the decision on February 10 to extend humanitarian and relief aid to the distressed residents of Türkiye after the devastating earthquake that hit the region on February 6. The humanitarian aid was handed over by Foreign Secretary of the Maldives Ahmed Latheef on behalf of the government. The aid was seen off from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Türkiye by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Honorary Consulate of the Türkiye in the Maldives.

The aid is being airlifted by Turkish Airlines in five batches and is expected to be completed by March 10.
