Second edition of Savaadheetha yacht rally begins

Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has commenced the second edition of the Savaadheetha Dhathuru yacht rally 2023. The yacht rally will be held until March 18.

Savaadheetha Dhathuru is a series of international yacht rallies organised by MITDC to promote local tourism and showcase the rich and ancient history and culture of the Maldives which is more than 2,000 years old. The first voyage of the yacht rally was held in 2022.

MITDC stated that a total of 13 yachts from six countries are participating in the voyage. The passengers will begin the voyage from Landhoo and stop at 10 destinations including, Goidhoo in Baa Atoll, Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani Atoll, Thoddoo, Rasdhoo and Ukulhas in Alifu Alifu Atoll, Dhangethi and Dhigurah in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll as well as two uninhabited islands.

The opening ceremony for the yacht rally was inaugurated by Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdulla Mausoom. The ceremony was also attended by Minister of Arts Culture and Heritage Yumna Maumoon, High Commissioner pf India to the Maldives Shri Munu Mahawar, government officials and those who have been working in the tourism sector for many years.
