MPS to be questioned over missing persons

The Parliamentary Committee on National Security Services has decided to summon officials of the Maldives Police Service (MPS) for questioning over the cases of missing persons. The committee made the decision at a time when cases of missing persons are frequently being reported.

Chair of the Committee Mohamed Aslam said the committee was already reviewing the cases of missing persons when Parliamentarian Adam Shareef submitted a similar motion. He, therefore, said both issues are being reviewed as one case.

The committee is reviewing the cases related to the disappearance of Hassan Ali of Mathiveri, Alifu Alifu Atoll, and Mohamed Asir of Maradhoo-Feydhoo, Addu City. Although Asir has been found, the committee still wishes to question MPS officials over details of the case, as the police service has not released a report.
