Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has announced that some foreign vessels participating in the second edition of the Savaadheetha Dhathuru have arrived in Landhoo, Noonu Atoll.
Savaadheetha Dhathuru is a series of international yacht rallies organised by MITDC to promote local tourism and showcase the rich and ancient history and culture of the Maldives which is more than 2,000 years old. The first voyage of the yacht rally was held in 2022.
MITDC stated that more than 10 yachts will participate in the second edition of the rally. As such, two of these yachts arrived at Landhoo on February 25, and two more are scheduled to arrive soon. All the yachts will arrive in the Maldives by February 28.
The yacht rally will be held from March 1-18. The passengers will begin the voyage from Landhoo and stop at 10 destinations including, Goidhoo in Baa Atoll, Hinnavaru in Lhaviyani Atoll, Thoddoo, Rasdhoo and Ukulhas in Alifu Alifu Atoll, Dhangethi and Dhigurah in Alifu Dhaalu Atoll as well as two uninhabited islands.
The first edition of Savaadheetha Dhathuru was held from February 5-20, 2022, as part of the events held to mark the 50th anniversary of the tourism industry of the Maldives. The event was a collaboration of MITDC, the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, and the Civil Company of Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
