The Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions for consideration has approved three of the five nominations for the vacant post of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC).
The seat of a member became vacant after Ahmed Qais, who was the Vice-President of the Commission, resigned on January 8. The names of five candidates for the vacant member post were sent to Parliament of the Maldives by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the order of priority.
The parliament committee evaluated the nominations and forwarded three names to the floor. They are Aminath Nuzuha, Hussain Amr, and Mariyam Nareema Shareef Musthareeq. Their names will be called out individually for voting.
MBC is a seven-member commission that currently consists of President Maryam Waheeda, Vice President Mohamed Fazeen, and members Amjad Waheed, Ali Yusuf, Aminath Ameena, and Shifla Ibrahim.
