Nominations for MBC open for public comment

Parliamentary Committee on Independent Institutions has revealed the names of the five candidates for the vacant position of the Maldives Broadcasting Commission (MBC) have been opened for public comment.

The names of five candidates for the vacant membership position were sent to Parliament by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the order of priority on February 8. After reviewing the nominations, the committee opened the opportunity for the public to submit any comments or complaints regarding the five candidates. Individuals can submit complaints to the Parliament before 1400hrs on February 19.

A position in MBC became vacant after Ahmed Qais, who was its Vice President, resigned on January 8. The seven-member commission currently consists of President Maryam Waheeda, Vice President Mohamed Fazeen, and members Amjad Waheed, Ali Yusuf, Aminath Ameena, and Shifla Ibrahim.
