Floating swimming platforms to be placed on four islands

Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment has launched the installation of floating swimming platforms on four islands in various atolls.

The contract was awarded to the Swimming Association of the Maldives at a ceremony held at the youth ministry. The agreement was signed by State Minister Mohamed Nasih Rasheed and Vice President of the Swimming Association Ismail Ali.

The project has been awarded to place swimming platforms in Hoarafushi, Haa Alifu Atoll, and Hanimaadhoo, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, at a cost of USD95,000. In addition, placing swimming platforms in Villingili, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, was awarded at a cost of USD95,000, while the project Maradhoo in Addu City was awarded at a cost of USD111,500. The projects were awarded to the Swimming Association to be completed within 75 days from the date of release of the funds.

The government aims to empower youth by promoting various sports activities in the Maldives. The government is providing opportunities to play various sports and as a result, the Maldives is represented in various sports at national and international levels.
