Swampland filling begins in two areas in Addu

Addu City Council has revealed that efforts are underway to fill swamplands in Feydhoo and the Maamendhoo area in Hithadhoo.

A total of 24 hectares of swampland, including areas in land plots, will be filled. The council is also making efforts to develop roads to access the land allocated in 2002 in the Maamendhoo area.

The state budget for 2022 has allocated around USD260,000 to fill the swamplands. The project will provide residential land use opportunities to those who have received residential land in Hithadhoo and Feydhoo. The council expects the project to bring a solution to the current housing problem in Addu.
