Children's Ombudsperson's Office launches new website

The Children's Ombudsperson's Office (COO) has launched its new website.

COO stated that the website www.oco.mv features additional functionality and has been designed with user-friendliness in mind for both the general public and children. It is easy to navigate and includes useful information. The website serves as a helpful resource, providing information about the services offered by the office, including contact information and the ability to file complaints online. Users can send an online message through the website.

Furthermore, COO stated that the website includes an English edition, which has been designed to be an information-rich resource. Additional information has been added about child rights, as well as the responsibilities of state institutions and others in relation to child rights, and educational materials for children are available for easy download.

COO is tasked with the protection and promotion of rights ensured under the Child Rights Protection Act. The ombudsperson is also responsible for making sure the relevant state institutions act in accordance with the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Rights of the Child. As such, the ombudsperson is responsible for monitoring and evaluating staff at the institutions tasked with protecting children's rights and carrying out inquiries on any violations
