Maldives records over 50,000 tourist arrivals in 10 days

The Maldives has recorded over 50,000 tourist arrivals in the first 10 days of 2023.

Statistics from the Ministry of Tourism show that 53,415 tourists arrived in the Maldives in the first 10 days, which is a 12.6% increase compared to the 47,453 arrivals recorded in the same period last year.

The ministry has also recorded over 5,000 daily tourist arrivals and an average of 5,342 arrivals. Tourists spend an average of eight days in the Maldives.

The list of countries contributing the most to tourist arrivals has also changed this year. As such, Russia is now the biggest contributor with 9,671 arrivals, while 7,119 tourists visited from Italy and 4,333 tourists visited from India.

The Maldives is currently experiencing the peak season for tourism and is accommodating a large number of flights. The statistics show that 33 international airlines are operating flights to the Maldives.

The government aims to welcome 1.8 million tourists this year in order to surpass last year’s record of 1.6 million tourists.
