Gov't to begin projects to develop Velidhoo Hospital and Junior College

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed that the projects to develop the hospital and the junior college in Velidhoo, Noonu Atoll, will begin before the end of the year. He made the remakes at a campaign rally held for the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) presidential primary.

Speaking at the rally, President Solih said that the fieldwork for the Velidhoo Hospital will start very soon as pledged by the government and the project will be contracted next week. He said the hospital development project in Manadhoo, Noonu Atoll, will also be handed over for construction within the next two weeks.

Noting that Velidhoo is the most populous island in Noonu Atoll, President Solih said that the government has made some pledges, especially for the island. He said that the work of developing the junior college on the island will start this year. He also said that additional roads will be developed to include the changes suggested by the public and the local council.

Furthermore, President Solih stated that the construction of a new power plant in Velidhoo will also begin. He said that a picnic island will also be developed in consultation with the council. He also assured harbour, housing, and other facilities will be developed in the nearby Fodhdhoo and Lhohi.
