Works of Baresdhoo will commence before end of this term

Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) has revealed the Baresdhoo Integrated Tourism Development Project will start before the end of the presidential term.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Managing Director Mohamed Raid said MITDC is working to start the development of Baresdhoo as soon as possible. He said discussions have been held with several investors. expressing hope the project can be commenced before the end of the term. He added MITDC faced challenges in finding investors to develop the project due to the global economic shock faced due to COVID-19.

Baresdhoo, a 75-hectare island in Laamu Atoll, will be developed in a concept that will provide a variety of hospitality services ranging from resorts to beach hotels. A commercial district to serve tourists will also be developed along with a golf course, spas, water sports centres, dive centres, arcade, agriculture zone, cinema and other leisure and entertainment districts, said MITDC.
