The Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) has issued a warning against advertising unaccredited courses.
In a press release, MQA stated that higher education programmes can only be conducted after they are accredited by the authority and that unaccredited programmes cannot be advertised under the Higher Education Act. MQA, however, stated that programmes that are unaccredited and do not fit the national certifications policy are being advertised in a way that misleads the public.
MQA also stated that it has received complaints regarding higher education centres violating the relevant regulations by holding online classes and advertising courses without approval. It warned that it will take action against centres conducting courses that are in violation of the permits issued by the authority.
