Ukulhus Island Council has completed the Electrical Installation and Maintenance Course jointly conducted by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment and the Maldives Polytechnic.
Speaking to PSM News, President of the Ukulhus Island Council Shaukath Ibrahim said that the main purpose of conducting such a course is to ensure that individuals have electrical wiring permits as many buildings are always being built on the island and that Ukulhus is a widely developed tourism island. He added that 19 people with electrical wiring licenses have been certified after the six-month course. He also said that the purpose of the courses was to create employment opportunities for the residents of the island and produce skilled and capable individuals for the industry.
In addition, Ukulhus Island Council is also preparing to conduct the Guesthouse Operation Certificate and Refrigerator and Maintenance Course.
Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan, Minister of State for Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Hussain Ismail, and senior officials from the Maldives Polytechnic attended the graduation ceremony.
