BCC officially opens SME Hub

Business Centre Corporation (BCC) has officially opened SME Hub. The hub was inaugurated by Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail and Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services Aishath Mohamed Didi.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Minister Aishath said the hub aims to solve the challenges faced by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by providing them with opportunities to market and sell their products. She said the hub will also empower women with home-based businesses by giving them a platform to do business at the same level as men. She also praised Minister Fayyaz for the economic ministry’s efforts to increase women entrepreneurs.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister Fayyaz said a country can only grow alongside its small and medium businesses and that SMEs in the Maldives had always been hindered due to the lack of a platform to market and sell their products. He noted that businesses from various parts of the Maldives are established at the SME Hub.

Furthermore, Minister Fayyaz highlighted that the establishment Co-Shared Kitchen facilities are one of the largest initiatives of BCC to assist SMEs. The facilities provide assistance for home-based businesses looking to scale their production.

The SME Hub is located on the third floor of the Allied Building in Male' City. The three-floor commercial hub is developed as a mall and offers kiosks to SMEs to promote their services and sell their products.
